New Delhi: Indian shooter Manu Bhaker created history at the Paris Olympics 2024 by becoming the first athlete from independent India to win two individual medals in a single edition of the Games. Bhaker’s stellar performance saw her clinch bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event and the 10m air pistol mixed team event, where she teamed up with Sarabjot Singh. She narrowly missed out on a third medal, finishing fourth in the 25m women’s pistol event.

Upon her return to India, Bhaker has been enjoying widespread attention and praise. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the Indian contingent, who returned with six medals from the Paris Olympics, at his residence.
