Former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad believes that the Indian team is a formidable contender for the upcoming ICC One day international (ODI) World Cup is scheduled to begin on October 5. India is hosting the grand event. The fast bowler believes that India has “a strong squad,”, and he emphasizes the significance of the fan base’s role throughout the tournament. He urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to ensure that the fans experience should be easy and smooth in comparison to previous years.

Prasad posted on X (formerly Twitter), “We have a good team and are strong contenders for the World Cup, but we need genuine fans inside the stadium cheering for the team and their experience needs to be far smoother and easier than what it has been, and for that, the BCCI needs to do far better than they have done so far. It is a reflection of the country as a whole and we as a nation should not be let down at any cost”.
He criticized the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) decision to only have a reserve day for the game between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023’s Super Four earlier on Saturday.

Unethical regulations

The ex-Indian bowler criticized the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) choice and asserted that it is unethical to have separate regulations for two teams. Venkatesh wrote on X on Friday, “If true, this is absolute shamelessness. The organizers have made a mockery and it is unethical to have a tournament with rules being different for the other two teams in the name of justice. It will only be fair if it is abandoned the first day, may it rain harder on the second day and these malicious plans not succeed.

A reserve day was announced by the ACC on Friday for the India vs. Pakistan match that will take place on September 10 at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The India vs. Pakistan game will resume where it left off on September 11 if bad weather causes play to be suspended.
