Not Rohit, Kohli but THIS player: Bangladesh reveals key concern ahead of IND vs BAN Test series

Bangladesh, fresh from their historic Test series win against Pakistan, where they used the Kookaburra ball, now faces the task of playing with the SG ball in India. The SG ball has a pronounced seam, making it more difficult for batters, especially once it gets older.

New Delhi: As Bangladesh gears up for their two-match Test series against India, batter Litton Das has identified a key factor the team is most wary of—not an individual player, but the difference in cricket balls. The squad is preparing to adjust to the SG ball, which will be used in India, a stark contrast to the Kookaburra ball they have been accustomed to in their recent Test series.

Adjusting to SG ball challenge

Bangladesh, fresh from their historic Test series win against Pakistan, where they used the Kookaburra ball, now faces the task of playing with the SG ball in India. The SG ball has a pronounced seam, making it more difficult for batters, especially once it gets older. The Kookaburra, on the other hand, becomes easier to handle as the match progresses.

Litton Das, speaking about the challenge, said, "The ball will be a different one in India. It is a little harder to play against the SG ball. The Kookaburra ball is easier to play when it gets old. It is the opposite with the SG ball. It is harder to get away against the old ball when it's the SG," Das told ESPNcricinfo.

Bangladesh's focus on progress

Litton Das played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s first Test series whitewash over Pakistan. His crucial 138-run innings helped Bangladesh recover from a dire 26/6 situation, forming a solid 165-run partnership with Mehidy Hasan Miraz. However, Das emphasized the need to move forward and not dwell on past achievements.

"We played good cricket against Pakistan, but it is already in the past. It is important for us to look forward. We will need your (media's) help. It would be helpful if you don't talk about the Pakistan series. As a player, it is already in the past for me," he added.

Series schedule

The two-match Test series against India kicks off in Chennai on September 19, with the second match set to take place in Kanpur on September 27. Bangladesh hopes to adapt quickly to the SG ball and build on their recent success as they face a formidable Indian side on home soil.
