Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma continues to leave an indelible mark not just in India but also among cricketing greats in Pakistan. Following his stellar performance against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy 2025, former Pakistani cricketers Wasim Akram and Mohammad Hafeez showered him with praise.
Pakistani fast-bowling legend Wasim Akram commended Rohit Sharma’s unique batting style, describing it as "lazy elegance." Akram remarked, "Rohit Sharma is a special player. Scoring three double centuries in ODI cricket is no ordinary feat. His batting is mesmerizing to watch."
Akram further shared that he first recognized Rohit's potential in 2008. "I saw him play in a tri-series in Australia, and his knock of 70 runs was breathtaking. Even back then, I knew this boy was destined for greatness," he added.
Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez also spoke highly of Rohit Sharma’s leadership skills, crediting him for fostering a selfless team culture in the Indian squad.
"Earlier, there was a perception that Indian players played for personal milestones, but Rohit has changed that," Hafeez stated.
He further highlighted Rohit’s commitment to the team’s success, saying, "He doesn’t hesitate to sacrifice his personal milestones for the team. If the situation demands, he plays aggressively without worrying about personal records. He has always put team achievements above individual glory."
Rohit Sharma’s impact extends beyond his batting prowess. His captaincy has brought a significant transformation in the Indian team, emphasizing collective success over individual brilliance. His leadership and dedication have cemented his status as one of cricket’s finest players.
