Mumbai Indians achieved a record-breaking victory against Rajasthan Royals despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century, which went in vain on Sunday. This is the first time that any team has successfully chased a score of 200 plus at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

In the 1000th match of the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling contest. MI won the match by six wickets with just three balls to spare. This was a remarkable achievement for MI as no team had ever chased a score of 200 or more at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai before. Rajasthan Royals, after winning the toss, chose to bat first and posted a formidable total of 212/7 in their 20 overs, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century. However, Mumbai’s batsmen successfully chased down the target, with 6 wickets still in hand and 3 balls remaining. Tim David was the hero of the chase, smashing three consecutive sixes to seal the victory for MI.

In pursuit of a formidable target, Mumbai Indians suffered an early setback as captain Rohit Sharma departed for just three runs, courtesy Sandeep Sharma’s delivery. Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green then attempted to steady the innings, with Ishan scoring 28 runs off 23 deliveries and Green smashing 44 runs off 26 balls. However, it was Suryakumar Yadav who emerged as the game-changer, scoring 55 runs off 29 balls, which comprised eight fours and two sixes. Tilak Verma and Tim David also played crucial innings towards the end. In the final over, Tim David sealed the victory for Mumbai Indians with three consecutive sixes.

Rajasthan Royals’ top wicket-taker was Ravichandran Ashwin, who managed to take 2 wickets. Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma took 1 wicket each for Mumbai Indians.

Rajasthan Royals had a shaky start as Jos Buttler was dismissed for just 18 runs. Captain Sanju Samson followed soon after with only 14 runs to his name. Devdutt Paddikal contributed just 2 runs while Jason Holder scored 11 runs, but Yashasvi Jaiswal held one end and played a brilliant innings of 124 runs off just 62 balls, including 16 fours and 8 sixes. His contribution helped Rajasthan to put up a big total against Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians’ bowlers did well to restrict Rajasthan’s total to 212/7. Arshad Khan picked up three wickets, while Piyush Chawla accounted for two. Riley Meredith and Jofra Archer took one wicket each.
