New Delhi: Shreyasi Singh, 32, is a talented shooter and a politician, representing the Jamui constituency in the Bihar Assembly as a BJP member. She will compete in the womens trap event at the Paris Olympics 2024 along with Rajeshwari Kumari. Confirmation mail from NRAIShreyasi trusts in luck and wasnt surprised when she got an email from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) saying she got a spot for the Paris Games. She didnt earn the spot herself but got it from pistol shooter Palak, who couldnt make it to the Paris team by getting qouta swapped. Palak won a spot but lost her place to Manu Bhaker, who came first in both air pistol and sports pistol. Since Manu can compete in two events with one quota, the other quota spot was given to a woman trap shooter, allowing Shreyasi to join the team.BJP MLAs dream comes true The NRAI asked the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) to swap the quota, and the request was approved. I am very happy but also nervous. I knew I might get a spot, but I only believed it after I got the email from the federation, Shreyasi, an MLA from Jamui, Bihar, told media officials. Shreyasi, daughter of former NRAI president Digvijay Singh, said it was their shared dream to compete in the Olympics. My father and I always dreamt of representing India at the Olympics. I am happy and emotional today. My father is not here to see this, but I know he would have been happy and proud, she said. The Indian shooters will take part in 28 events, including mixed competitions, at the Olympic Games in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
