Lionel Messi, like the legendary Marvel character Thanos, is inevitable – the little magician scored a last-minute free kick golazo against Cruz Azul on his debut to win the match for new team Inter Miami.

In the 94th minute of the match, with Inter Miami tied 1-1 with Mexican side Cruz Azul, Lionel Messi stood over a free kick some 25 yards away from the goal. Then, almost as if it was written in the stars, the World Cup winner curled the ball past the four-man wall and into the left top corner to send the 20,000-plus Inter Miami fans in the DRV PNK Stadium into a frenzy.

Despite only entering the pitch in the 54th minute, the Argentine maestro looked sharp on the ball – despite playing his last competitive match on June 3.

Lionel Messi has magical Inter Miami debut despite humid conditions

The Messi magic show that fans witnessed on Saturday was by no means an easy feat; the conditions in the Miami stadium were… unpleasant. The temperature in Miami has consistently been above 30C, with extreme humidity not helping the players on the pitch.

In fact, Inter Miami player Robbie Robinson was visibly struggling with the heat and humidity on the pitch and ended up throwing up while attempting a sprint down the wing.

Despite the momentary embarrassment, the 24-year-old was one of the best players on the pitch, and his assist in the first goal was so good that even Messi applauded from the bench.
