Virat Kohli became the fastest player to reach 25 thousand runs in international cricket on Sunday, scoring 12 in India’s second innings against Australia iin the Delhi Test. Kohli played 549 international innings to surpass 25,000 runs, while the legend Sachin Tendulkar achieved this in 577 innings. Followed by Ricky Ponting who was on second position and scored the 25,000-mark in 588 innings, legendary all-rounder Jacques Kallis in 594 innings.

Virat Kohli is the second Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and sixth batter overall to achieve the feat. Kohli was 52 runs short for achieving this mark before the start of the second test innings between India and Australia. He scored 44 runs after the first innings on February 18, and by making eight more runs on the second day, he joined the elite list of the batters who scored 25,000 plus runs in international innings of their career.

The Delhi Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium is where Virat Kohli’s 491st international match, and 549th innings is been played. He is the second one to join the elite club after Sachin Tendulkar in India to score the 25,000 mark.

Virat Kohli is the only player with a combined batting average of more than 50 among batters who have scored more than 25,000 runs. In the Delhi Test, he scored 44 runs in the first innings. He has scored 12809 runs in 271 ODIs at an average of 57.69 and 4008 runs at an average of 52.73 in 115 T20Is. He now has 8212 runs in 106 Test matches.
