New Delhi: During an intense Duleep Trophy 2024-25 match between India B and India A at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and spinner Kuldeep Yadav provided a light-hearted moment amidst the competitive cricket. India B secured a convincing 76-run victory over India A, bundling them out for 198 in their second innings while defending a target of 275.

In the 41st over of India A’s chase, Kuldeep smashed a boundary off the fifth delivery of Sai Kishore’s over. Expecting Kuldeep to attempt a single on the final ball, Pant called the fielders closer to prevent it.

India B's dominant performance

India B’s bowlers were instrumental in their victory, with left-arm seamer Dayal leading the charge by taking 3/50, supported by Mukesh Kumar (2/50) and Navdeep Saini (2/41). India A struggled to chase the target, losing wickets at regular intervals and falling 76 runs short.

Earlier in the match, India B had set a challenging target by scoring 184 in their second innings, building an overall lead of 274 runs. Despite a modest first session where they could only add 34 more runs to their overnight score of 150/6, the bowlers compensated with a strong performance.

Akash Deep takes five-wicket haul

India A's pacer Akash was a standout performer despite the loss, securing a five-wicket haul (5/56) after being smashed for five consecutive boundaries by Sarfaraz Khan in the previous day's play. He took the crucial wickets of Washington Sundar and Navdeep Saini to complete his impressive spell.

Batter Musheer Khan, who played a key role in India B's innings, was awarded Player of the Match. Reflecting on his performance, he said, "My preparation was really good with my father. I had done well in Ranji, so I knew I could get an opportunity here."
