After a three-hour hearing, Italy’s highest sports court adjourned on Wednesday evening without making a decision, though it seems increasingly likely that Juventus will receive the points back until a new trial is held.

That would move Juventus up to third place in Serie A, putting them right in the running for a Champions League spot next season.

The case has been referred to a different court for a new trial by the prosecution, which would result in Juventus receiving the points at least temporarily back. Juventus demands that the case be completely dismissed.

The storied Italian club was sanctioned in January, and several former board members, including former president Andrea Agnelli, were also barred from participating in soccer activities.

Juventus appealed to CONI, the highest sports court within the Italian Olympic Committee, and denied any wrongdoing.

An investigation into alleged fraudulent bookkeeping by Turin public prosecutors resulted in the mass resignation of the Juventus board in November.

A games preliminary for the situation was then re-opened in light of data from the Turin examiners, prompting the focuses derivation.

For administrative reasons, the final month was put off until May 10.

False billing, market manipulation, obstructing watchdog agencies, and false communications by a company listed publicly on the Milan stock exchange are among the charges against Juventus, Agnelli, and 11 others.
