Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 trade window, Rajasthan Royals are set to sign Indian speedster Avesh Khan from Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday, November 22. As per the reports from ESPNCricinfo, the franchise swapped the left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal to LSG with Avesh Khan for the upcoming IPL season.

As per the IPL guidelines, franchises have to submit their final list of retained players by November 26. The auction is set to take place in UAE.

Padikkal-Avesh struggles in IPL 2023

Earlier, Padikkal struggled to find his rhythm during the IPL 2023 season where he scored just 261 runs including two fifties in 11 outings.

On the other hand, pacer Avesh Khan also struggled to make an impact with the ball, disappointing his franchise who bagged him for a whopping 10 crore in IPL 2023 auction. The 26-year-old pacer scalped only eight wickets with an expensive economy rate. However, he is part of India's squad for the T20I series against  Australia, which is starting on November 23. Teams are set to lock horns in a five-match series.

As per the media reports, the BCCI will confirm officially regarding the transfer of the players in the next few days. Earlier this month, Mumbai Indian signed Romario Shepherd from Lucknow Super Giants.

Shuffle in batting order of LSG

The arrival of Devdutt Padikkal is likely to change the batting order in the upcoming IPL season. With India's star batters KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, and Kyle Mayers in opener roles, the management will have a headache in opting for the opening pair. However, LSG's skipper KL Rahul's sensational performance for Team India in the middle order can force him to bat down the order in LSG's batting lineup.

Royal pace attack of RR

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals are well-equipped to pace attack with Indian bowlers Prasidh Krishna, Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Sen, Sandeep Sharma, and KM Asif in the squad. On the other hand, New Zealand's Trent Boult, and West Indies pacers duo Obed McCoy and Jason Holder are overseas pace options.
