Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2023, the much anticipated Retention Day has arrived, with all 10 teams set to release the list of retained players ahead of the auction. The official media release of IPL confirmed that Shahbaz Ahamad has been traded to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) while Mayank Dagar is traded to RCB from SRH during the Indian Premier League trading window ahead of the 2024 IPL season.

What is the impact of Shahbaz and Mayank?

Shahbaz has participated in 39 IPL games, scalping 14 wickets with a best bowling figure of 3/7. In exchange for his current price, he was traded to SRH after representing RCB since 2020. Meanwhile, Mayank Dagar will travel from SRH to RCB at his current price. The right-handed all-rounder was formerly a member of Punjab Kings, formerly known as Kings XI Punjab. He only participated in three IPL games in 2023 and claimed one wicket. 

Earlier, some key players had already been released by their franchises ahead of auctions. The likes of Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey were released by Delhi Capitals(DC).

Meanwhile, reports claimed that Gujarat Titans'(GT) skipper Hardik Pandya is likely to leave the franchise and set to return to his former franchise Mumbai Indians(MI).
