In the most recent ODI rankings published by the International Cricket Council, Kohli has gotten closer to his countryman Shubman Gill, who leads the batting ODI standings.

After smashing records en route to his 765 runs in 11 innings during the World Cup, Kohli is currently 35 points behind Gill in third place.

Kohli now has 791 points, Gill has 826 points, and Pakistani batsman Babar Azam has 824 points.
With 769 rating points, India's captain Rohit Sharma—who played some incredible stroke play throughout the World Cup—has also jumped up to fourth place.

Among the many records that Kohli smashed were the ODI centuries held by the great cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. With his 597 runs, Rohit became the tournament's top run scorer along with Kohli.

Babar scored 320 runs and Gill (354 runs) in the 50-over event, but Pakistan was unable to advance to the tournament's knockout stages. Gill missed a few matches.

Quinton de Kock, the opening batsman for South Africa, fell two spots to rank fifth in the ODI batter rankings, while Daryl Mitchell, the right-hander for New Zealand, moved up five spaces to rank sixth after scoring 552 runs at the World Cup.

In the ODI bowling rankings, India's Mohammed Siraj (ranked third) and Jasprit Bumrah (ranked fourth) remain in the top 10, while teammate Kuldeep Yadav dropped one spot to tie for sixth.

Remarkably, Mohammed Shami, who performed exceptionally well in the World Cup and was first in wicket-taking (24 wickets in 7 innings), dropped to 10th place with 648 points from 657 before.
