India vs South Africa: In a rain-affected match, India faced defeat against South Africa at St George's Park in Gqeberha on Tuesday. The South African openers dominated the innings while Indian bowlers pulled back the run flow by scalping some crucial wickets in the middle overs.

Earlier, South African skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and invited India to bat first. India managed to post 180/7 in 19.3 overs helped by brilliant fifties from Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh. The openers failed to fire as they were dismissed for ducks. Suryakumar took charge and added a 49-run stand for the third wicket with Tilak Varma off 24 balls. Tilak was dismissed by Gerald Coetzee. 

Brilliant fifties from SKY and Rinku

Suryakumar then put up a 70-run stand with Rinku Singh for the fourth wicket before falling for 56 runs off 36 deliveries. Eventually, Rinku reached his first T20I mark as India failed to finish off the innings on high. Proteas speedster Gerald Coetzee dented the innings with back-to-back wickets in his final over. The rain stopped the play with three balls left to complete the final over as India finished on 180/7 in 19.3 overs.

Reeza Hendricks's takes on Indian bowlers

The persistent rain compelled to revise the target of South Africa to schase 152 in 15 overs. Protese started the proceedings and unleashed carnage with their top order of Matthew Breetzke, Reeza Hendricks and skipper Aiden Markram hammering the Indian bowlers to allover of St George's Park. 

India bowlers gave themselves a slight chance to make a comeback by dismissing Hendricks, Markram and Heinrich Klaasen in quick succession. The hosts managed to recover from dismissals and chase down the innings with two overs to spare. Reeza Hendricks was the top scorer of South Africa's innings, who hammered 49 runs off 27 deliveries 8 boundaries and a maximum. South took a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against India.
