After a disappointing match at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, India and Pakistan are once again set to lock horns in the ongoing Asia Cup on Sunday. Both teams defeated Nepal in their respective matches, securing their positions in the Super Fours.

As heartbreaking as it may sound, the much-awaited Super Four clash in Colombo could get washed out due to rain. So far, the weather has played a determining role in the Asia Cup matches played in Sri Lanka and almost every game has been infected by rain. The scenario will be no different between the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Earlier, all Super Four matches were to be shifted to Hambantota to avoid the threat of rain, but as per the reports, Pakistan refused to do so and an official from the Asain Cricket Council confirmed that the matches would go ahead as planned earlier.

Weather forecast

According to the weather forecast, there is a high probability of rain exceeding 70 percent in the morning. Although the temperature is expected to drop slightly as the day progresses, the threat of rain remains, particularly at the beginning of the match, making unfavorable conditions for the game. The rain is expected to get heavier towards the end of the night. Since the game will start at 3:00 IST, the situation will be more difficult in the second inning. It is challenging to play the second inning at night since the likelihood of rain rises to above 95 percent.

A similar forecast from Weather.com indicates a 90% possibility of heavy rain. Hambantota, the potential alternative location for Colombo, has a 40 percent chance of rain with scattered thunderstorms on September 10.

Weather disruptions are anticipated for India’s upcoming Super Four matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in addition to the game against Pakistan. On September 12, the Indian team will play Sri Lanka at the same location. According to the forecast, there is a 40% chance of rain with heavy cloud cover.
