Arch rivals India and Pakistan will be squaring off against each other in the much anticipated match of the Asia Cup tournament, being hosted by Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on September 2023. Ahead of the much-awaited match, there has been a positive update for the fans who are excited to witness the biggest clash of the Asia Cup tournament.
Earlier there were reports that there would be intermittent rain almost throughout the day. The will be cloudy the whole day but there has not been any sign of rainfall till now.
According to a video shared by former Pakistani cricket team Captain Wasim Akram on his ‘X’(formerly known as Twitter) account, there has not been any rainfall except for a little drizzle and, he said that the sky is also clearing up.
“Many people are asking me about the weather in Kandy. Where I’m staying, there’s a drizzle with cloud cover. But you can see that the weather is clearing. The ground is one hour away from here. Maybe, the weather is different there,” Akram said in the video.
“All the best to both teams. And remember, it’s just a match. Someone will win and someone will lose. Enjoy good cricket,” he added.
Meanwhile, amid the frenzy, a cricket fan at Pallekele stadium while talking to a reporter also said that the weather is clear and that he is excited to watch India win. “Weather is very good, weather is clear and there is 99% chance of India winning the game. We hope to see the match,” a local resident told the media.
The chances of rain at Pallekele are 84% during the day. To be more specific, in the morning, there’s a 60% chance of rain in the city. Even in the afternoon, there remains a 60% chance of a downpour. In the evening, the chances increase to 65%.
Overnight, the chances of precipitation further increase to 69%. Hence, while there may be moments in the match where rain would not happen, wet conditions on the ground are likely to hamper the playing time too.
The match is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM IST with the toss taking place at 2:30 PM.
