Rohit's century has sent shockwaves across the cricketing world, especially with the upcoming Champions Trophy in sight. His aggressive batting against England has reignited memories of vintage Rohit Sharma. Right from the start, he dominated England's bowlers, displaying a fearless and attacking approach.

Rohit’s second-fastest ODI century

This was Rohit Sharma’s second-fastest century in ODIs. His quickest ton came in 2023 against Afghanistan, where he reached the milestone in just 63 balls at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. Additionally, he had previously scored centuries in 82 balls against England in Nottingham (2018) and against New Zealand in Indore (2023). His century against West Indies in Guwahati (2018) was another landmark moment in his career.

Blazing half-century in just 30 balls

Before his century, Sharma had already set the tone for the innings with a rapid half-century off just 30 balls. During his fiery knock, he also broke Chris Gayle’s record for most sixes in ODIs, now ranking second on the all-time list.

Chris Gayle had previously hit 331 sixes in ODIs, but Rohit surpassed that milestone in this match. Now, only former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi remains ahead, with a record of 351 sixes in ODIs.

India in commanding position

As of the latest update, India had reached 218 runs in 29 overs, with Rohit Sharma unbeaten at 118 and Shreyas Iyer at 29. The Indian team looks in a commanding position, thanks to Rohit's spectacular innings.
