After a spectacular performance in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Indias ace speedster Mohammed Shami is in the running to receive the prestigious Arjun Award according to sources. Sources reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a request to the Sports Ministry of India. Earlier, Shamis name was not present on the list to consider for the award. He became the highest wicket-taker for India in World Cups surpassing the legendary bowler Zaheer Khan.As of now only four bowlers in the history of mens cricket have taken more wickets than Shami in World Cups. These players are - Lasith Malinga (56), Mitchell Starc (65), Muttiah Muralitharan (68), and Glenn McGrath (71).
