India will appear in the final of the ICC Champions trophy after defeating Australia in a nail-biting semifinal match in Dubai by four wickets, thanks to a superlative excursion from Virat Kohli, who once again proved why he is called the "chase master." Kohli's splendid 84 came when the chips were down, taking the team past the target of 265 with six wickets and 11 balls to spare.

Kohli's heroics show the way

Kohli's innings will remain in history as the highlight of the match. His calming yet aggressive batting under extreme pressure once again proved his unmatched ability to anchor a chase. After having stabilised the innings along with Shreyas Iyer, he made sure India crossed the finish line. He also became a part of the elite club of players who have scored more than 8,000 runs at successful ODI chases, being the second player to achieve this feat after Sachin Tendulkar.

Shami's bowling brilliance

Mohammed Shami was the star with the ball, picking up the most vital of wickets at a time when it mattered for Australia to restrict them to a modest score, taking three wickets for 48 runs. After being expensive in his previous spell, Shami came back strong to dismiss Steve Smith, Connolly, and Nathan Ellis on different occasions. And under pressure, he was very much capable of delivering.

Contributions from Iyer and Pandya

Shreyas Iyer impressed with both batting on the pitch and bowling. His straight throw ran out Alex Carey, which must have come as a boost to nod in favour of a better score for them. He later on added 45 runs with the bat and partnered with Kohli when it was extremely crucial. Hardik Pandya propelled the chase with 24 balls for 28 runs, three of which cleared the ropes at a time when big shots were the order of the day.
