The Indian women's badminton team, on Sunday, created history by winning the Badminton Asia Team Championships title for the first time, defeating Thailand 3-2 in a nail-biting final. Badminton superstar PV Sindhu, who was returning from injury, led the game from the front. She dominated her match against Supaninda Katethong, setting the tone for India's victory with a convincing 21-12, 21-12 win. 

The doubles pair of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly added another point, overcoming a tough challenge to defeat their Thai counterparts in a three-game thriller.

Young prodigy shines

While Ashmita Chaliha and the second doubles pair faced setbacks, young prodigy Anmol Kharb rose to the occasion. The 16-year-old ranked 472nd in the world, displayed nerves of steel against World No. 45 Pornpicha Choeikeewong, securing the historic win with a straight-game victory.
