IND vs ZIM: In the first T20I cash between India and Zimbabwe, Shubman Gill led India faced an upset on Saturday. Zimbabwe won by 13 runs in Harare Sports Club at Harare. Would you believe it? Yes, World Champion India lost to Zimbabwe in the first T20I of the five-match series.

In pursuit of 116 runs, a new-look Indian team led by Shubman Gill was restricted on 102 runs. This also ended India's 12-match winning streak.

Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar were the only batters who showed some fight to win. They scored 31 off 29 balls and 27 off 34 balls respectively.

India's struggles begin early

The match started disastrously for India when debutant Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a 4-ball duck in the first over. The early collapse continued with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Riyan Parag, and Rinku Singh all falling quickly, leaving India reeling at 22/4 in just 4.4 overs.

Zimbabwe's bowling dominance

Zimbabwe's bowlers, led by captain Raza with figures of 3 for 25 in 4 overs and Chatara with 3 for 16 in 3.5 overs, were exceptional. Their efforts, along with contributions from the rest of the bowling attack, kept constant pressure on the Indian batting lineup.

Shubman Gill and debutant Dhruv Jurel tried to stabilize the innings, but Jurel fell for 6 in the 10th over. Raza then dismissed Gill shortly after, increasing Zimbabwe's chances of a stunning victory. Ravi Bishnoi showed some resistance but was also taken out by Raza, leaving India struggling at 61/7.

Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan managed a 23-run partnership, offering India a glimmer of hope. However, Raza struck again, removing Avesh for 16. Sundar kept India's chances alive until the final over but ultimately fell, as Zimbabwe successfully defended the lowest total in T20Is in Harare.

India's bowling brilliance goes in vain

Earlier in the game, Ravi Bishnoi (4 for 13) and Washington Sundar (2 for 11) were instrumental in restricting Zimbabwe to 115/9 in 20 overs. Wicketkeeper batter Clive Madande was the top scorer of Zimbabwe, who scored 29 runs.
