India won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Harare Sports Club. Zimbabwe managed to post a total of 152 runs, thanks to skipper Sikandar Raza's 46-run knock. Khaleel Ahmed was the standout bowler for India, taking two wickets.
Zimbabwe started well as openers Wesley Madhevere and Tadiwanashe Marumani put together a 63-run partnership. However, Abhishek Sharma broke the partnership by dismissing Marumani. This was his first international wicket. Shivam Dube followed up by removing Madhevere in the next over, leaving Zimbabwe at 67/2 at the halfway mark.
The Indian spin trio of Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, and Abhishek Sharma tightened the screws further and restricted the flow of runs. Bishnoi bowled economically and conceded just 22 runs in his four overs. Sundar and Sharma also chipped in with crucial wickets, ensuring Zimbabwe couldn’t accelerate.
Sikandar Raza struck 46 runs off 28 balls, including two fours and three sixes. His efforts helped Zimbabwe cross the 150-run mark before he was dismissed by debutant Tushar Deshpande. Khaleel Ahmed added two more wickets to his tally, closing Zimbabwe's innings at 152/7.
Zimbabwe: 152/7 in 20 overs (Sikandar Raza 46, Tadiwanashe Marumani 32; Khaleel Ahmed 2/32)
India: 156/0 in 15.2 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 93*, Shubman Gill 58*)
