New Delhi: Indian cricketers wore black armbands during their first ODI appearance since the World Cup final loss. The tribute was in honor of former cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad who passed away recently due to cancer.
Anshuman Gaekwad's cricketing career spanned over a decade, featuring prominently in both Test matches and ODIs for India. His memorable innings include an unbeaten 201 against Pakistan and a courageous 81 in Jamaica against formidable bowling attacks.
Post-retirement, Gaekwad served Indian cricket as a coach, steering the team to notable victories including triumphs in Sharjah and overseeing Anil Kumble's historic 10-wicket haul in a Test match. His dedication and mentorship endeared him to many in the cricketing community.
