IND vs SL: Virat Kohli, known for his infectious energy on the cricket field, once again captivated fans with a vibrant celebration during the second ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday. The highlight of the match wasn't just his on-field performance but the unique celebration that followed a crucial catch. This event quickly became a trending topic across social media platforms.
The moment occurred in the 27th over of Sri Lanka's innings. Axar Patel had just been introduced into the attack when he tempted Sadeera Samarawickrama into playing an ambitious lofted shot. As Samarawickrama danced down the pitch, looking to capitalize against the spin, Kohli was strategically positioned at cover. He expertly backtracked and took a comfortable catch. However, it was what followed that stole the limelight. Kohli turned towards the dugout and broke into a lively Bihu dance, an Assamese folk dance, to the delight of fans both in the stadium and online.ย
This unexpected dance was a tribute to his teammate Riyan Parag, who is part of the Indian ODI squad and hails from Assam, the birthplace of the Bihu dance. Parag has expressed admiration for Kohli on various social media platforms and was thrilled to share the dressing room with him for the first time. Despite not yet earning his first cap in the ODI format, Parag, who has represented India in T20Is against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, eagerly awaits his opportunity.

For Kohli, this series marks a return to ODI cricket following the World Cup last year, where India suffered a heart-wrenching loss to Australia in the final. In the first ODI against Sri Lanka, Kohli scored 24 runs in a match that ended in a nail-biting tie in Colombo. This series also saw the return of Rohit Sharma as captain.
In the second ODI, Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka opted to bat first. Unfortunately for Sri Lanka, they lost wickets at regular intervals, struggling to gain momentum in the early stages. India had previously swept Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20I series, ushering in a new era under head coach Gautam Gambhir and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav.
