IND vs SL: Sri Lankan spinners run riots in Colombo on Sunday. Indian batters fell in the trap of debutant Sri Lanka Jeffrey Vandersay. Apart from Rohit Sharma, whole batting lineup looked clueless. He scalped six-wicket haul and helped his side to defeat India by 32 runs at R Premadasa Stadium.

Rohit Sharma's fiery start

Hitman Rohit Sharma provided a fiery start to India by hammering 33 balls half-century. When he was batting it looked like India will chase down the target within 25 overs. However, the situation changed over the course of time. Debutant Jeffrey Vandersay dismissed him and broke 97 runs stand for the first wicket. He scored 64 off 44 deliveries including five boundaries and four boundaries. Shubman Gill (35) becomes the next wicket of Vandersay.

Shivam Dube walked out to bat at No 4. However, the change in batting position didn't prove right and he was dismissed for a duck. Again Vandersay dismissed him.

Sri Lanka's mystery bowler takes six

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli got the start today as well but couldn't get himself going. Vandersay trapped him before stumps and he was adjourned lbw. Shreyas Iyer soon followed the suit. Vandersay trapped him before wicket as well and claimed his maiden five-wicket haul. KL Rahul had another forgettable outing and got dismissed by Vandersay.

Gritty knock of Axar Patel goes in vain

Axar Patel who walked in to bat at No. 5 tried to steady the ship along with Washington Sundar. Sri Lankan skipper Asalanka stepped in and broke the partnership and dismissed Axar Patel.  He scored 44 off 44 deliveries, including 4 boundaries and 2 maximums. Soon after Asalanka was removed by Washington Sundar. With his dismissed India's hope was shattered. Sri Lankan skipper went on to dismiss Mohammed Siraj. Last wicket came in the form of Arshdeep Singh.

India needed 241 to win

Earlier, Indian bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to 240 in the second ODI at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers from India who claimed three-wicket haul. Sri Lanka managed well to reach the 200+ mark after being reduced to 136/6. Dunith Wellalage stepped up again in lower order with partner in Kamindu Mendis. Notably, Sri Lanka made changes in playing XIs and the ploy to lengthen their batting worked well.
