IND vs SL: India posted a mammoth target of 214 after brilliant innings from Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rishabh Pant at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Sri Lanka's skipper Charith Asalanka won the toss and invited India to bat first in the first T20I of three three-match series.

Indian openers provided a solid start to India. The opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill hammered Sri Lankan bowlers all over the park. They stitched 74-run stand for the first wicket. W Hasaranga struck on the very first ball of his spell in sixth over, dismissing Shubman Gill. He scored quick fire 34 off just 16 deliveries, including six boundaries and a maximum.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav then took charge with a blistering half-century. He scored 58 runs off just 26 balls, including eight boundaries and two sixes. Rishabh Pant supported him well with a vital 49 runs. Their combined efforts helped India post a formidable total of 213/7 in their 20 overs.

Sri Lanka's star pacer, Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of the bowlers. He was the only bowler who troubled Indian batters. He scalped 4 wickets in his spell. W Hasaranga, Dilshan Madhushanka, and Asitha Fernando claimed one wicket each.
