India vs Sri Lanka (X/ICC)
IND vs SL: Would you believe it? Sri Lanka needed just 30 runs from 30 balls with nine wickets in hand to secure victory in the third T20I against India. However, they collapsed in the most extraordinary fashion, failing to reach the target and ending up tying the scores. India, with some crucial bowling from Rinku Singh and captain Suryakumar Yadav in the final two overs, managed to force the match into a Super Over.
In the super over, skipper SKY handed the ball to Washington Sundar who restricted Sri Lanka for just 2 runs. Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka perished in the process of scoring runs at a brisk rate. In response, skipper SKY hammered the boundary on the very first ball of the over and secured an easy win. With this win, India swept the three-match series.

The toss for the third T20I in Pallekele was delayed by about 40 minutes due to a light drizzle that had affected the ground. When the toss finally occurred, Sri Lanka won and chose to bowl first. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav announced that key players including all-rounder Hardik Pandya, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, and spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel had been rested for this match.
Sri Lanka's bowlers and fielders were in top form, restricting India to a modest score of 137/9. The pitch seemed to offer considerable assistance to the spinners, and Sri Lanka’s bowlers made the most of the conditions. India was in deep trouble early in their innings, losing five wickets within the first 10 overs. Key players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, and Suryakumar Yadav were dismissed early, leaving India at a precarious 30/4 at the end of the powerplay. Shivam Dube also fell in the ninth over, adding to India’s woes.
Despite India’s early struggles, Sri Lanka’s batting did not experience the same level of difficulty. Kusal Perera provided stability for the hosts, who were determined to avoid a clean sweep by India in the series. While India lost four wickets in the first six overs, Sri Lanka’s openers, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis, managed to maintain a steady approach during their powerplay. Their resilience ensured that the hosts did not fall into the same peril as their opponents.
