IND vs SA: After the World Cup concluded on a disappointing note, India's senior players requested a break from cricket. India is touring South Africa to play 3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 2 Tests matches where the regular faces abstained from the white ball matches. India is set to receive reinforcement in the form of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin for the red-ball matches.

However, several reports claim that India will likely miss the services of star pacer Mohammed Shami in the two-match Test series.

Indian cricket team veteran Mohammed Shami, who scalped 24-wickets in the recent ODI World Cup, is in serious doubt for the upcoming Test series against South Africa, according to a report by Cricbuzz.

Shami, who battled through ankle discomfort during the World Cup, is currently undergoing medical treatment, raising concerns about his fitness for the gruelling five-day format. The BCCI statement stated, "Mr. Mohd. Shami is currently undergoing medical treatment, and his availability is subject to fitness."

Who will replace Shami?

While skipper Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, Navdeep Saini, and Harshit Rana are confirmed to travel to Johannesburg on Friday, the Board has not named a replacement for Shami. It is expected that India can replace Shami from its T20I and ODI squads. India will lock horns with South Africa for the Boxing Day Test at Centurion on December 26.
