Cricket history was rewritten as Team India clinched a thrilling 7-wicket victory over South Africa in Cape Town on Thursday. Rohit's men also became the first side to win a Test match at the iconic Newlands Cricket Ground. The triumph not only levelled the series but ended India's long-standing winless streak at the venue. Previously, India's best results in Cape Town were two draws, in 1993 and 2011.

The win wasn't easy for Men in Blue. Aiden Markram's aggressive century for South Africa threatened to put them in control, but India's bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah's incredible six-wicket haul, dismantled the Proteas lineup for a below-par total of 176 in the second innings. Chasing a mere target of 79 runs, India navigated the tricky Newlands pitch with confidence, on the back of stellar performances from the top order, including Rohit Sharma.

Bumrah's raw pace and impeccable line and length proved too much for the South African batsmen, sending them tumbling one by one. Chasing a mere target of 79 runs, India navigated the tricky Newlands pitch with confidence, on the back of stellar performances from the top order, including Rohit Sharma.

Beyond the scoreboard, the victory holds immense significance. India's bowlers, particularly Mohammed Siraj with his career-best figures in the first innings, dominated throughout, exposing South Africa's batting frailties. The Proteas' first-innings total of 55, their lowest since 1932, served as a testament to India's relentless pressure.

In response, India posted 153 runs in the first innings after a dramatic collapse from 153/4 to 153 allout. Lungi Ngidi's three-wicket haul triggered the sudden collapse. Virat Kohli was the top scorer of the Indian innings where he scored 46 runs, while Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger scalped three wickets each.

Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj were declared as the winners of the 'Man of the match' award while, Dean Elger, who is playing his last match won the 'Man of the Series' title.
