Ahmedabad crime branch has arrested a man for sending an email threatening a blast in the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 14, when it is scheduled to host the ODI World Cup match between India and Pakistan.

The accused was identified as Karan Mavi who has no criminal background under his name, was arrested from Rajkot. He sent a mail to BCCI in hindi which stated that there will be an explosion in the Narendra Modi Stadium, on 14-10-2023, and that ‘everyone will shudder’. The officials said, “He had issued a brief mail from his phone and carrying his name. He has no criminal background”.

The Ahmedabad police has made it clear that extra security arrangements have been made for the India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup cricket match on October 14, more than 11,000 personnel of various agencies including Gujarat Police, NSG, RAF, and home guards among others will be present in Ahmedabad and at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
