IND vs ENG: In the fifth and final Test of the series, India defeated England by an innings and sixty-four runs, to win 4-1 in Dharamsala. On the third day of the Test, the team once again outperformed England, dismissing the visitors for a mere 195 runs after amassing 479 runs in the opening innings. During the Test matchup with England, Rohit Sharma was accompanied by Rahul Dravid.

With five series victories in his seven series as team captain since assuming the position more than two years ago, captain Rohit Sharma has an incredible record as a Test captain. He has yet to concede a series loss. Rohit Sharma was praised by Rahul Dravid. Sharma shared that from the past few years, he feels that he has been in his best form on the field.

Rohit Sharma takes the lead

After making two significant hundreds, the Indian captain ultimately contributed significantly to the team's series victory, despite having a sluggish start at the bat. In the end, Rohit averaged 44.44 and amassed 400 runs in five Tests.

For most of the series against England, Rohit had to play with team members (especially batters) who were comparatively newer to the field. KL Rahul was not present after the first game due to injury, and Virat Kohli was not available for the entire series due to personal reasons. Therefore, Rohit took charge of ensuring that the younger team members were guided properly on the field and the team put their best foot forward.

Rahul Dravid all praises for Rohit Sharma

India's head coach, Rahul Dravid, highlighted an innings that best demonstrated the team's reliance on their skipper while applauding Rohit's noteworthy performance throughout the series. Dravid shared that it has been a pleasure watching Rohit bat since the age of 18-year-old when he first saw the player, as he plays the game with ease.

However, he feels that more attention needs to be brought to the fact that he brings strength and resilience to the team. The coach feels that the captain's numbers should be studied.

He revealed that Rohit was too shy to speak regarding the critical situation where Rohit won the toss in Rajkot. During the match, India was 3 down within the first hour. Rahul expressed that Rohit always scores the needed points. He said that the team requires someone to hit a hundred, and Rohit Sharma delivers!

Dravid continued, saying that in Ranchi, a start was necessary to chase 192 in the second innings. India got that from both of the openers. It is not easy to start as a middle-order player and then open; Sharma has been amazing to see. It is a testament to him that despite other circumstances surrounding him, he was able to perform that consistently when India needed it—particularly in the last three games.

Rohit Sharma on cloud nine

The captain recently reflected on his own performance during an interview. He shared that he will retire only when he feels that he is not good enough. He went on to say that these days he feels that his abilities on the field have topped his past performances. With this statement, it is clear that the captain is not only here to stay, but here to win.
