IND vs ENG: England's rising star Harry Brook is set to miss the entire five-match Test series against India, which kickstarts from January 25 in Hyderabad. In a statement released by the England and Wales Cricket Board(ECB) on Sunday revealed that the 24-year-old batter will return home "with immediate effect for personal reasons."

Who will replace Harry Brook?

Meanwhile, the ECB has named Surrey's Dan Lawrence as the replacement for Harry Brook. The English batter will join the England Men's Test squad in the next 24 hours.

ECB's statement

The statement reads, "Harry Brook is set to return home with immediate effect for personal reasons from the England Men’s Test tour of India. The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space.

The top cricket's governing body of England and Wales also clarified, "The England selectors will confirm a replacement player for the tour in due course."

The young batting sensation was part of England's contingent in the UAE, where the Ben Stokes-led side practiced in similar conditions to that of the Indian sub-continent. The team is scheduled to arrive in Hyderabad on January 21, where the opening game will be hosted. On the other hand, Rohit's-men had arrived in the city on Saturday.

Impeccable stats of Harry Brook

The 24-year-old made his debut in Test cricket in September 2022 and has emerged as an important asset in the Bazball era. He has hammered 1181 runs in just 12 matches, which is the highest by an England batter during the period. The total comprises four hundred and seven fifties. The English batter hammered three centuries against the Pakistan series, where he hammered 468 runs in just three matches. England's skipper, Ben Stokes was impressed with his performance and called him the upcoming Virat Kohli of world cricket.
