New Delhi: With less than a year until Indias highly anticipated tour of the United Kingdom, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the fixtures for the five-Test series scheduled for 2024. This tour marks the beginning of a new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for India, which has yet to secure a Test series win in England since 2007. Despite coming close in 2021, the series ended in a 2-2 draw.Tour ItineraryThe series will commence on June 20, 2024, at Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds, running until June 24. Following a brief break, the action shifts to Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham from July 2 to 6. The iconic Lords Cricket Ground in London will host the third Test from July 10 to 14. The penultimate match will take place at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 18 to 22, with the final Test scheduled at The Oval in London from July 31 to August 4.Preparation and WTC implicationsAs of now, there is no confirmation about any practice matches prior to the series. India, currently leading the WTC standings with a win percentage of 68.51, may participate in the WTC final if they qualify. Rohit Sharma, having already conquered Australia and England on home soil, faces one of his toughest challenges yet in this series.
