IND vs ENG: In a shocking turn of events, India's star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the ongoing third Test against England due to a family emergency. The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) informed about Ashwin's decision in a media release on Friday night. at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. 

The press release reads, "Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test squad, effective immediately due to a family medical emergency." The BCCI affirmed their support for the veteran player. 

Furthermore, it added, "The BCCI extends its heartfelt support to the champion cricketer and his family. The health and well-being of the players and their loved ones are of utmost importance. The Board requests respect for the privacy of Ashwin and his family as they navigate through this challenging time."

England dominates Day 2

The unfortunate incident unfolded on the same day when he picked his 500th Test wicket. The 37-year-old became the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble to achieve the feat.  He achieved this landmark by dismissing England's opener Zak Crawley during the first innings. 'Men in Blue ' were expecting to pull back the momentum as Ben Stokes-led team hammered 207/2 in 35 overs. Ben Duckett was the wrecker-in-chief on Day 2, as he completed his second Test ton in just 88 deliveries. He is unbeaten on 133. 

As per the ICC rules, India will be playing with 10 players and a substitute from Day 3 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. However, the exact details of Ashwin's withdrawal were not cleared by officials. It adds another setback as the stalwart batter Virat Kohli and KL Rahul missed the ongoing match. Notably, Kohli opted out for personal reasons, whereas KL Rahul is recovering from an injury.

Ashwin praises his father

After completing 500 Test wickets, he mentioned how his father stood by him throughout his thick and thin. He said,  "It's been quite a long journey. Firstly, I'd like to dedicate this feat to my father. He's been with me through thick and thin and probably had a heart attack every time he's watched me play. His health has probably gone for a toss because of that."
