Virat Kohli celebrated Travis Head’s dismissal with an aggressive and animated reaction, which quickly went viral on social media. Head, who has consistently scored runs against India, was seen as a major threat in the Champions Trophy semi-final. The first of the two semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was held between Australia and India in Dubai, in which Australia waged massive battle against the Indian spinners in the latter end of innings to go past the 250-run mark. Before match day, Indian fans were worried about Head, who never fails to show up against India; with memories of his special knock during the 2023 final still lurking.

But the team executed its plan perfectly, getting Head out before he could reach a half-century which led to an over-the-top celebration by Virat Kohli and has since gone viral.

Head was dismissed first

Active from the first ball, and after the dismissal, heading off into single digits, that being the opener Cooper Connolly, Head took over and went after the Indian bowlers. However, in the ninth over, Varun Chakravarthy gave a massive blow, getting Head caught by Shubman Gill. Head was dismissed for 39 runs from 33 balls with five fours.

Kohli’s viral celebtation

Virat Kohli's fiery celebration reacting to Head's dismissal instantly became the talk of the internet. Fans of cricket rejoiced as the munched into fists and roared in triumph echoing how significant was Heval's out in this high-risk match. The video later stormed the internet as Indian supporters rushed to join in on the jubilant tune resounding online.

Australia's fightback

Despite losing Head early, the Australian middle order held strong, providing them with a fighting score; they tested the Indian bowlers who actually managed to contain the damage through good-timed tight spells in the death overs.
