After a disappointing performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final against Australia, India is set to lock horns with Australia in a match T20I's bilateral series. ICC's top tournament created a buzz earlier, which was displayed in the wide media coverage with over 200 media personnel present to cover the tournament.

SKY to lead India

The Selection Committee has handed the captaincy of the entire series to premier batter Suryakumar Yadav. SKY will lead the squad in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya while Ruturaj Gaikwad was appointed as vice-captain.

Two media persons in attendance

However, Suryakumar was surprised to find only two media representatives were present at the pre-match press. Notably, India is returning to the pitch just three days after Australia was defeated by 6 wickets in the World Cup finals.

You have to forget and move on: SKY

Answering the return after loss Suryakumar replied that it is going to be difficult, but that one must "move on."

The premier batter said, "It is difficult. It will take time. It can't be that you get up next morning, and forget everything that happened. It was a long tournament. Obviously, we would have loved to win. But you got to look at the light at the end of the tunnel. You have to forget, and move on. It is a fresh team, with new boys and new energy. So, we are looking forward to this series."

India will face Australia on Thursday in the first match of the bilateral series at  ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
