After a heartbreaking loss in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Men’s Selection Committee announced the squad for the upcoming bilateral series against Australia. The series will feature 5 T20I games which is scheduled to start from 23rd November, 2023 in Visakhapatnam.
Suryakumar will captain for the first time. Ishan and Prasidh too from World Cup side in team.

The Selection Committee has handed the captaincy of the entire series to premier batter Suryakumar Yadav. SKY will lead the squad in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.
The official release by BCCI clarified that Shreyas Iyer will join the squad as vice-captain for the last two T20Is in Raipur and Bengaluru. In Iyer's absence opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad is appointed as the vice-captain of the side for the first three T20I.
