The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hope to put the tickets for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on sale online by August 10.

To that end, the BCCI has sought suggestions for ticket pricing from all the individual staging associations hosting the World Cup games.

Following a meeting between the BCCI and the state cricket associations in New Delhi on Thursday, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said that the sale of tickets could only proceed after each state organisation has finalised their ticket pricing with the BCCI by July 31.

Once the ticket prices are set, the sales can begin by August 10, by which time the BCCI hopes to resolve any potential changes to the event’s schedule. The scheduling issue would likely be resolved in the next three to four days, as per Jay Shah.

“Three [full] members have written to the ICC for a schedule change. Only the dates and timings will be changed, venues will not be changed. If there is a six-day gap between games, we are trying to reduce it to 4-5 days. The picture will be clear in three-four days. Changes will happen in consultation with the ICC,” Shah said.

Paper tickets needed for main World Cup matches: BCCI chief Jay Shah

After the meeting, Jay Shah confirmed that fans would need to present physical paper tickets to enter the marquee events of the World Cup. The fans can collect the tickets from the stadiums, and the BCCI would also set up additional ticket collection centres in each city to facilitate the collection of paper tickets.

“We will make arrangements so that the physical tickets can be collected at seven-eight places one week prior to the match. We will make it hassle-free. We will start the e-ticket system in bilateral games first,” Jay Shah told reporters.
