New Delhi: In a historic move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has inked the hosting rights agreement for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy with the International Cricket Council (ICC). This monumental occasion, marked by the signing ceremony in Dubai, solidifies Pakistan's position as the solitary host for this prestigious tournament.

PCB's assurance for visiting teams

The PCB, led by Chairperson Zaka Ashraf, has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring top-tier security for visiting teams during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The groundwork for this security spectacle has already commenced, with the PCB making it a paramount priority. The recent PCB press release highlights the board's proactive approach, intimating the government to guarantee foolproof security.

Meanwhile, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, in a reassuring meeting with Chairman PCB Management Committee, pledged cooperation from security agencies, setting the stage for a seamlessly hosted championship.

Pakistan to host ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The announcement of Pakistan as the exclusive host for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, made on November 16, 2021, during the Men’s T20 World Cup, stands as a historic milestone. This marks Pakistan's inaugural venture into hosting a tournament of such magnitude independently. However, persistent concerns over security breaches in the nation and the backdrop of political tensions continue to cast shadows on Pakistan's hosting rights.

Will India visit Pakistan?

India's potential participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 sparks intrigue, echoing the uncertainties seen in the Asia Cup 2023 saga. The hostilities between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and PCB led to a hybrid model for the Asia Cup, shifting some games to Sri Lanka.

With the ongoing security concerns, it remains speculative if India will venture into the neighbouring territory for this championship. The ICC might explore alternative venues, with Dubai emerging as a likely contender, mirroring the Asia Cup's approach.
