Special Olympics Bharat on Thursday organised a torch run and a national send-off ceremony during which the union minister Smriti Irani expressed hope that all the athletes will make India proud. The ceremony was organised at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. Notably, the Indian contingent will be travelling for the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2023 in Berlin, Germany, which is scheduled to happen on June 17 to 25.

Taking it to Twitter, union sports minister Anurag Thakur, also wished them the best for the games. He wrote, “Delighted to send-off Indian Contingent of 198 special athletes to the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2023. The resolve of the players to win laurels for the nation was palpable. PT Usha, President of Indian Olympics Bharat, Guest of Honour, and representatives from Special Olympics Bharat received the torch.
