PM Narendra Modi congratulated Manu Bhaker and Sarajot Singh for winning the Bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Olympics. He said for Manu, this is her second consecutive Olympic medal, showcasing her consistent excellence and dedication.
Shooter Manu Bhaker's father Ramkrishna Bhaker said, "I am very happy. This is a big news for the whole country. I thank the countrymen for giving their love and blessings to Manu and also helping her in tough times."
Manu Bhaker's today's win has solidified her legacy, as she is now the first athlete of independent India to win multiple medals at a single Olympic Games. The Indian duo delivered a stellar performance, defeating South Korea's duo of Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonhowith a score of 16-10 at Chateauroux's shooting range.
Norman Pritchard, a British-Indian athlete, was the only other Indian to achieve a double medal at the Olympics, winning two silver medals in the 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Paris Games. Bhasker's accomplisment, however, stands out as the first by an Independent India.
