As it happened

India started the match positively and went ahead five minutes into the match after Hardik Singh’s goal. Mandeep Singh scored his 12th goal of the tournament to give India a 2-0 lead. Lalit Kumar Upadhyay added one more to India’s tally before the end of the first quarter. Stunned by the Indian hockey team’s fiery start, four-time Asian Games hockey champ Korea responded in the second quarter as Jung Manjae scored two goals to reduce the deficit.

Just when it looked like everything was going in Korea’s favor, Amit Rohidas restored a two-goal lead for India with a thunderous drag flick from the penalty corner. India led 4-2 at half-time.
