West Bengal: Bollywood actress Disha Patani will make the opening ceremony of the 2025 Indian Premier League sparkle. The IPL's official X handle confirmed the news, saying that the star event will be held at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

In addition to Disha Patani, singers Shreya Ghoshal and Karan Aujla are also said to perform at the glamorous event. The ceremony will be graced by ICC chairman Jay Shah and other officials.

Eden Gardens will witness an opening ceremony

"It is convenient with great demand for tickets. Eden Gardens will witness an opening ceremony after a long gap," CAB president Snehasish Ganguly said, while keeping everything else under wraps. IPL 2025 will start on March 22, when Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the historic Eden Gardens. The event will be telecast live on Star Sports and live streamed on JioHotstar.

KKR begin the season as reigning champions, having won the IPL 2024 title under Shreyas Iyer's leadership by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. KKR will be skippered by Ajinkya Rahane in the current season.
