The Indian men’s squad has recently suffered a bombshell after losing in World Tests Championship (WTC) Final against Australia. After the setback, Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav are some of the names missing from the Indian cricket team which will be travelling to the West Indies in July. While Pujara displayed a disappointing show at the WTC Finals, the decision to pick Umesh over veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was met with lots of criticism.

That’s not it, fast bowler Mohammed Shami was also ordered to rest for the series with Navdeep Saini getting a call-up. Jaydev Unadkay kept his spot in the pace department. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals pacer Mukesh Kumar received his maiden India call-up.

Talking about the batters, Yashasvi Jaiswal was rewarded for his stunning performance in IPL (Indian Premier League) 2023, therefore he was included in the Test team. Ruturaj Gaikwad was also named in the squad after he won the competition with CSK (Chennai Super Kings) under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

As the vice-captain for the two-match Test series, Ajinkya Rahane has been chosen.

Now, the Indian team is all set to play three ODIs against the West Indies after the Test series for which a 17-member team was announced by the BCCI selectors. The squad will be led under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
