Recently, Shami appeared on YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, where he addressed both his recovery and the swirling rumors about his personal life. The speculation about Shami’s connection with Sania Mirza gained momentum after Mirza’s high-profile divorce from Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. It led to unfounded rumors linking Mirza with Shami.

In the podcast, Shami said, "I urge everyone to be responsible with social media and refrain from spreading such unfounded news. It's odd and done for some lame fun, but if these memes are related to someone’s life, they should be thought about before being shared," Shami said.
