New Delhi: Team India took a well-deserved break in the West Indies before their upcoming Super 8 matches. The Men in Blue, after a strong performance in the group stage, decided to unwind on the beautiful beaches of Barbados. This relaxation came after finishing the group stage with three wins out of four matches, while their last game against Canada was called off due to heavy rain and a wet outfield.
Rohit Sharma and his team had a fantastic start in the T20 World Cup 2024. They kicked off their campaign with a convincing win against Ireland, defeating them by 8 wickets. This victory was followed by a thrilling match against their arch-rivals Pakistan, where India emerged victorious by 6 runs in a low-scoring game. The team continued their winning streak by defeating the USA by 7 wickets in their third match.
Team India played their first three matches at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. These matches were challenging, especially for the batters, as the pitches were highly favorable to fast bowlers. Despite the tough conditions, India managed to perform well. Notably, it was a drop pitch.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma struggled to build a solid opening partnership. Kohli, who had an outstanding IPL 2024, could only score 5 runs in three matches. However, Rishabh Pant emerged as India’s leading run-scorer, while Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya became the joint-leading wicket-takers.
After completing the group stage, Team India traveled to Barbados for their Super 8 clash against Afghanistan. To relax and bond as a team, the players enjoyed a game of beach volleyball. In a video shared by the BCCI on X (formerly Twitter), Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, and Arshdeep Singh were seen having a great time playing volleyball on the beach.
