Sports News: An arrest warrant has been issued against former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa in connection with an alleged fraud involving the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Uthappa, who is currently the director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd, is accused of deducting approximately ₹23 lakh from employees salaries but failing to deposit their provident fund contributions. The warrant was issued by Regional PF Commissioner Shadakshari Gopal Reddy, who has requested the Pulakeshinagar police in Karnataka to take necessary action.Allegations and Legal ProceedingsThe allegations against Uthappa stem from his management of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands, where it is claimed that he neglected to remit the provident fund dues as mandated under the EPF and MP Act, 1952. The outstanding amount totals ₹23,36,602, which includes recovery costs. The PF commissioner has emphasized that this failure has hindered the offices ability to settle the provident fund accounts of affected workers. As stated in the warrant, “Due to delays in payment, this office is unable to settle the Provident Fund Accounts of the affected workers.”The warrant was executed on December 4 however, police officials reported that Uthappa was not present at his residence in Pulakeshinagar when they attempted to serve him. It has been noted that Uthappa and his family currently reside in Dubai.Deadline for ComplianceUthappa has been given until December 27 to clear the outstanding dues. If he fails to do so, he could face arrest.
