Pakistan is on the brink of losing the hosting rights of yet another major multinational ICC event as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stands firm, not to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns. Several reports claimed that the ICC is likely to announce the new host of the Champions Trophy 2025.

Why BCCI is not allowing its players to tour Pakistan?

The prevailing political tensions between the neighboring countries, India and Pakistan remain unresolved forcing the ICC to rethink about the host nation. Earlier, the BCCI clarified that India will not travel if Pakistan is going to host the Champions Trophy 2025.

It is expected The United Arab Emirates (UAE) could provide an alternative stage for the event.

In November 2021, Pakistan secured the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy 2025 and then Pakistan Cricket Board's Chairman Ramiz Raja expressed delight after the announcement. Pakistan hasn't hosted any major ICC event as the sub-continent nation hosted the World Cup 1996 along with its arch nemesis India.

Notably, Pakistan was forced to host the Asia Cup 2023 matches with Sri Lanka as co-hosts after the BCCI refused to send its payers to Pakistan. Meanwhile, Australia, New Zealand, England, and Sri Lanka have toured Pakistan, since the 2009 massacre.

Who is winner of Asia Cup 2017?

'Men in Green' are the defending champions, having won the 2017 edition of the Champions Trophy, which was played in ODI format. The multinational event was held in England.

Pakistan stunned the arch nemesis India by 180 runs in the final at the Oval. The brilliant hundred by Fakhar Zaman helped Sarfaraz Ahmed's men to post a mammoth total, which India failed to chase.

The Hamilton Trophy proved to be Pakistan's first since they won the ICC World  2009 T20I on English soil.
