Veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has sparked rumours of his retirement after a minor change in his Instagram bio went viral on social media on Friday.

Netizens noticed that the right-arm pacer removed the word ‘cricketer’ from his bio. Earlier, his bio used to read ‘Indian cricketer’, but now it only says, ‘Indian Family First. Pet lover. Casual Gamer’.

Many cricket fans have taken to Twitter to show screenshots of his modified bio, with some lamenting the apparent end to the cricketer’s career.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to call time on his career?

The 33-year-old, who has been in 21 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 87 T20Is for the Men in Blue since his debut against Pakistan in 2012, last played for the national team on November 22, 2022, against New Zealand, where he was wicketless despite bowling the entire four overs.

Since then, he has been dropped from the national team owing to a series of injuries and poor form, and he was not a part of the BCCI’s contract this year. He is also not in consideration for the upcoming World Cup squad.

Despite his latest sidelining, Bhuvi, as he is affectionately called, has had a stellar career, becoming the second-highest wicket-taker for India in the T20 international matches. He is also the only Indian bowler to date to take five-wicket hauls in all three formats of the game.
