Now, hold on to your senses as KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer’s return to the set-up is the biggest highlight of the Indian squad. Rahul and Iyer’s inclusion is proper on fitness for the duo who underwent a series of match-simulation exercises and practice matches to assess their readiness for ODIs.
For those who are unaware, Asia Cup holds a very significant role because it is also seen as India’s draft squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup to be held later this year. Further, the ICC”s deadline to submit the draft of the WC team is scheduled for September 05. The 17-member squad will undergo a 6-day training camp in Bengaluru before leaving for Colombo.
India is all set to begin their Asia Cup campaign on September 02 against Pakistan before playing Nepal on Sept 04. The cricket tournament will commence from August 20 with Pakistan and Sri Lanka into the battlefield as an explosive opener.
